HISTORIc PRESERVATION |
EDUCATION |
While each individual "Daughter" has direct roots that tie directly back to the American Revolution, the scope of historic preservation is broad. Efforts include commemorations and memorials, the restoration of historic sites like the Pickett House in Bellingham, and the preservation of records, artifacts, and historical documents.
COMMUNITY SERVICEPatriotism goes well beyond saying the Pledge of Allegiance and standing for the presentation of our country's flag. We honor and support local veterans organizations through donation drives, devoting one meeting day annually to direct participation in local Memorial Day events.
|
Just two examples of the chapter's educational activities are the annual placement of our Constitution Month exhibit in local public libraries, and conducting an annual high- school student essay competition for the local DAR Good Citizens Award.
GENEALOGYWe offer genealogy programs throughout the year to assist those interested in learning about the many avenues open to researching family history. We are happy to provide advice and one-on-one assistance to those interested in joining NSDAR and the chapter with preparation of their applications.
